ABOUT RHYMING BOOK NOOK

Rhyming Book Nook is the creation of Author Pat Dryland. Pat has recently published the first of many rhyming children’s books and has created Rhyming Book Nook as a place to share her books with others.

Pat (wearing blue in the photo below) is a Mum of two and a Grandmother of five. She’s a retired High School Teacher and Early Childhood Centre Owner. She has always been a gifted writer and poet. Over the years she has written a number of rhyming children’s books, just for fun really, feeling that one day she would do something with them.

Now, she’s a published Author. And I’m sure you’ll agree that LOOK WHO'S AT THE ZOO is a wonderful start to her rhyming book collection.

Ziena Knight (wearing black in the photo below) is a wonderful Illustrator whose bright, colourful, animated, fun drawings are the perfect complement to Pat’s books. Ziena is a Mum of two and an Early Childhood Professional. She has many creative and artistic talents that deserve to be shared, and now they are!

“Rhyming helps babies and children learn about words, sounds and language formation. Hearing and using rhyme, rhythm and repetition helps children develop early literacy skills. The repetition of words, ideas and skills is important for early brain development, as it creates secure foundations for early learning.

Using rhyme, rhythm and repetition in song, while reading or even to make up your own rhymes, is great fun for babies and children. Rhyming lets children learn about sound and have fun with words.

Making your own rhymes in conversation (for example, "let’s pat the cat" or "see the bee in the tree") or making a funny poem can spark your child’s imagination and can be a fun way to learn. Encouraging your child to think of their own rhyming words lets them get creative and explore sounds."
